Silent Struggles

Are you listening to the silent struggles of life wondering what the next plot wickedness could be planning against you? Is your passion loosing grip with you and you perseverance wearing out to be of no use? Do you feel so used, no longer tough to fight the battles of life, no longer literate to understand the life jargon? Is rejection so clear that it cant be assumed and the scars in your heart yet so tender to touch?

The look in your eyes paves way to you heart, hurt as clear as dawn. Trust once written bodily now erased to the point of no recognition. Your face loves to mask the wounds that are yet so fresh, but then, they ooze through the window that is your eye. Joy a topcoat you so cautiously use. You got no more love to give for the once you love have chosen to open a new chapter in your life- that of betrayal. You problems have turned to a security blanket you can least do without.

But, despite all the difficulties you've gone through, you still got a destiny to fulfill. However scared you could be, you can still give Christ a chance to come into the dark alleys of your life. Let Him deliver you from the residue of the past and His complete healing penetrate the whole of you. We may not be able to change where we've come from but can surely change our destination. Give God a chance to turn your mess into a miracle.Let him offload your burdens that is worry. Give up yesterday's sorrows and embrace tomorrow as it comes with all vigour. For only Him, God , will change your struggle in life into stars that shine brightening your life.

A "me" WORLD

We live in a “me” world? True?
But, is it a making of its own or a making of me and you, us? See, the world changes with each dawn. New births, technological advances and innovations, architectural designs, diseases, drug discoveries, religions, governments, businesses and of course death. Of all these, there is an aspect that remains constant, the life in a human being, a gift from God.
This is the point that thoughts on life need be dug deep into if not sunken into. Each and every human being has one to live that is characterized by a myriad of choices to be made amidst the ever occurring challenges we go through. I understand that it takes common sense to understand the very choices we make in as much as what is common to me may not be common to you, what makes sense to me may not necessarily be sensible to you.
Each day, we encounter motivational speeches, quotes, books, programmes, tweets and clips of how we can be better people, on how to make the future better, how to get rich, how to pass that exam, how to be a better parent and such. Little are we told on the value of life, of how our choices make or break the world...

Truth is, life is God given and only He comprehends how we get to have our hearts beat. It is at this point that reality needs be swallowed whether sweet or bitter for at the end of the day, He has the final say. We have a calling, yes, a higher calling, that is to be responsible beings through whom the world can see peace. There is no way we can get to live life our own way for we are made of flesh and blood that seeks pleasure recurrently leading us to finding avenues to getting that pleasure thirst quenched no matter the price tag on it. Ever heard of corruptions, war, social injustices, and political unrest amidst other evils? Fact is, we have been rendered proponents of the above.

Beauty is, all is not lost. We have this chance to see life beyond “me” and instead see it as “Him” Yes, the only way we can get to free ourselves from the bad to the good is by embracing Him who is Good and having Him take the lead in our lives having surrendered wholly to His mercy and guidance. The moment we realize how inadequate we are as human beings and on the abundance of Grace that is from the giver of life is when living life starts for without this then we are dead in our desires and wants, live yet without Life for while we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly, me and you. Until we see each other as equal beings in the service of the maker then the world will just be, as currently is, a “me” world.

Who chooses the other? God or man

The fall of man came about through Eve choosing to rebel against God when she got deceived to what was delightful to her eyes and desirable to make one wise (Gen 3:6), transgressing thus came into the world. Henceforth unbelievers remain unworthy before God. The best deeds or rather behavior of man is filth in the presence of God (Isiah 64:6)

The depravity of man starts at birth for he is born totally depraved and without being made new creatures in Christ by God’s power, he is prevented by his wicked nature from pleasing God (Psalm 58:3). Hence, it is doubtless that all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God who is righteous. Despite this, God does justify these very sinners by Grace on a basis, that of Faith and Faith alone from beginning to the end.
Romans 3:11 points out that man is unable to comprehend the Truth of God, cannot grasp His standards of righteousness. Man natural tendency is to seek his own interest and his only Hope is for God to seek him that occurs through God working in the heart of anyone who seeks Him. Spiritual ignorance expresses depravity and rebellion of man: The Lord looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any of whom understand, who seek after God (Psalm 14:2) On the other hand, the heart of man is corrupt, full of sin that comes about through failure to fear and honour God. Whatever man does prior to salvation is stained with evil for the deeds are not for God’s glory and are not as a result of faith.
Reality is, man enters the world spiritually dead with no inclination to God, sinful and lost. This renders man a son of the world who needs be set free from the bondage of sin and brought captive to obedience to the truth in Christ. God in His boundless mercy and love offers salvation to man through Christ’s death and resurrection that man is brought alive in Christ and is henceforth rendered dead to sin. It’s therefore faith, a gift of God that saves man, not man’s own ability and will despite the fact that man is to believe to be saved. In all these, God’s Grace is preeminent.

Despite man being corrupt due to his own sins and trespasses, choosing God is not within his own ability and will. Instead, it’s through His sovereign Grace that God chooses man and this is man’s only hope. It is God alone who can infuse spiritual life into the life of a dead sinner that he can get to see the kingdom of God in accordance to His will. It’s God who chooses man in His sovereignty

Of Likes and Double Taps

When still a toddler, the world only took photos to keep memories that are treasured if not valued and wrote letters to express love and share life. There existed professional camera men who, at first sight, would make the whole homestead busy with each person up and about trying to get “ready” for that photo session. Then, chicken, flowers and cats came in handy for they ruled the photo scenes as spices into the shoot. Letters on the other hand were scribbled artistically to shout out love to the addressed and share life with friends and family.
Today, we are just but a world of likes and double taps for we’ve allowed ourselves to have less ties with friends and family in the pretense that Facebook, Instagram and twitter will just play the role of getting us together to share life as a whole. Each smartphone owner and admirer in equal measure has become a photographer whereas the editing role has been taken up by applications that boast of thousands on filter and edit options. We continue to wallow in the thoughts that they work best when used to transform photos from being “unlikable” to one that will be double-tapped, liked and most of all shared. Social media on the other hand has turned into family photo galleries as well as historical evidence of how irresponsible we have become in regards to relationships, one’s past is just a click away. The number of times we upload photos on the internet triply exceeds the instances we call on family and friends just to know how they are doing. These gadgets have turned us into merciless people who, instead of lending a hand, gracefully take pictures and videos of devastating moments with the goal of sharing the same so that the world gets to know that you were there when “it” happened instead of rolling up our sleeves to help that person who is in dire need of a hand. How many times do we see guys getting overboard and taking risks just to snap away that admirable and eye catchy selfie full of “made” faces? Each time I log onto my social world, I bump into photos that have less of clothing and more of flesh, angles taken to bring out the curvy bodies and others taken to flaunt daily life endeavors’, gadgets, cribs and hangouts all in the race for likes and double taps. How many times to we extend a hand to say hi to that stranger in that matatu instead of keeping in the know through liking and double tapping? How many times do we share pics that are less of us and more of instances where life is shared?
I am left wondering what comes of that soul that, even after posting a pic in his/her Sunday best, no one hits the like button, let alone a single double tap if not a retweet. By the way, don’t get it twisted that I do not appreciate life and blessings that needs be put out there for the world to be inspired of how working smarty hard pays off. My whistle blows to that direction of pride, showing off and living double lives.  The world yearns for relationships that are founded on love, where accountability matters in the same measure as minding our own businesses.
Don’t go for the likes, be inspired by the unseen, the unrecognized for surely, one day, you will make sense, we will make sense.
At the end of the day, all is vanity…………………………………….

Thorn in the Flesh

My childhood was that normal one, back in the village where mobile phones were rare gadgets, we knew of black and white TV’s that enjoyed additional stripe-coloured screens to at least make them colour televisions. A number of years later, Motorola T190 and Erickson phones came into existence with only the ‘elite’ getting to own them then strapping them on their belts, the village had to know they owned phones you know. Trees would get to be friends to these mobile phone owners, blame poor networks at such times as those. We would marvel at the sight of such call making scenes and hold the callers in high regard.
Back to the thorn. Now…….. The neigbourhood boasts of ranges of phone models, smart phones for that matter with fingers doing the touching and sliding. The internet has come of age where even a farmer deep in the village in the remotest of areas gets to do business via an application designed to fit the needs of their craft. The gist of this is the diminishing of conversations where fingers do the talking leaving us drowned in the mobile service providers juicy unlimited options. Cafeterias have been forced to put up Wi-Fi as a tool to cash in as well as facilitate the battery modes through sockets spread on their walls. The rush for these sockets is a display of talent, you may mistake such for a terrorism scare or better still a drill against the same.

Nowadays, owning a phone that is WhatsApp-less so unpopular that the owner is forced to feel out of place, a camera-less phone so rare to find especially if the phrase “youth” matters in the respective context. Churches continue to experience diminishing Bible sales, thanks to the Bible App that has skyrocketed copy-pasted verses on social media, if only the posts would be sharing from deep mediation and understanding of the context and aim of the Bible text. Multiple application continuously run as the sermon is served to a generation that needs to Face the Book of life more than it Facebooks, SAD!!!!!

One family, different worlds. We sit in the same house, but, each person is in his/her own world, one checking on mails, another on the trends, the other on the latest music release and the other obviously on the addictive WhatsApp. Kids no longer find it worth bonding with parents, instead, they prey on their gadgets, their phones. Conversations have been confined to inboxes and chat boxes leaving little or no room for constructive talk in today’s houses and very a drowning man’s straw for parents to clutch on with regards to knowing their children well. So, next time you meet a teenager who knows not of the responsibility call, just reach out to your phone and curse it. The run-away grown up kids have let mobile money transfer services a reason not to travel back to the village yet that is where they trace their roots, home remains best despite the east and west escapades in the name of ventures to make life better than it is. There is no way phones can replace family time lest we are okay if family ties remain loosely tied.
My take is, phones are here to stay and connect the world leading to the achievement of the village-ness we yearn for but can never replace family, friends and community relevance. We need keep healthy relationships that are one-on-one no matter the distance, keeping the phones to play the planning role for actual meet-ups.

We have a thorn in our flesh, and a choice………. either fight it heads on or perish having adopted it to replace doing life for if the pricking continues, it will prick for REAL.
